How to configure Fritz!Box 7490 in bridge mode
With this manual, you will be able to put your Fritz!Box 7490 in bridge mode. It will force the device to only act as a modem, letting you configure PPP connection on your own device connected behind.
|NOTE! This guide is only applicable if you are using the Fritz!Box on VDSL line.|
Download the configuration File
You will need a special configuration file to import into your device.
Download the configuration file (right-click on the link and click ‘save as’)
Navigate to the correct page
Open your web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox,…) and go to the web interface of your Fritz!Box. By default, it should be reachable on http://fritz.box or http://192.168.178.1. Log into the device if you are prompted to, then go to System and click on Backup option in a drop-down menu:
Then click on Restore tab:
Upload the configuration file
Browse to the configuration file you previously downloaded and fill in the password, which is ‘avm’ (without the quotes, case sensitive). Now press Restore and follow the instructions shown on the screen. After that is done, your Fritz!Box will reboot and you will be automatically redirected to the Overview page.
Connect your local network
No further configuration of your device is needed. Once the reboot is completed, just connect a network cable from the port LAN4 of your Fritz!Box to your internal network. PPP configuration is to be done on the authenticating device.
|NOTE! Once the bridge mode is enabled, only the port LAN4 will remain active.|
